DAY 10 of AYSPP: EXCURSION TO BOROBUDUR AND CLOSING DINNER

It was such a hot, sizzling day!

However the participants had so much fun, as always, being able to visit the infamous Borobudur Temple! Everyone took many pictures and also learned about the history of the temple from the tour guide.

DAY 9 OF AYSPP 2019: TALK SHOW, PITCHING AND EXPO

Talkshow

The first activity that the ASEAN Young Socialpreneurs Program (AYSPP) participants joined on November 14 was attending a talkshow. The talkshow is titled “The Role of Social Innovation to Reduce Social Inequality”, held by Creative Hub Fisipol UGM as a part of its Social Impact Festival.

DAY 8 OF AYSPP 2019: FGD & BUSINESS CASE PRESENTATION

ASEAN Young Socialpreneurs participants were asked to participate in a focused group discussion (FGD). The participants already prepared their presentation outlines the day before at the previous FGD session on November 12. The objective of this second FGD activity was to provide the participants some time to finalize their business case models and ideas.

DAY 7 OF AYSPP 2019: WORKSHOP ON FUNDING AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Today’s lecture program was the final lecture of ASEAN Young Socialpreneurship Program 2019. There were two speakers that gave the lecture; they were Jake Orak and Liesellote Heederik. By the same topics, they offered difference perspectives of funding and financial management.

DAY 6 OF AYSPP 2019: IMPACTFUL VOLUNTEER AND FUN COMPANY VISIT

Volunteer-Kelas Inspirasi Yogyakarta

This volunteering activity was held in two elementary schools, they were  SD Negeri Suroloyo and SD Negeri Madigondo, Kulon Progo. They event beganby briefing led by Kelas Inspirasi, and the warming welcome by the teachers along with Kelas Inspirasi, as well. Before they jumped right in the first program, the participant introduced themselves to the teachers and students, and then they sang along with the students, too; they were separated into two groups. They held the first program for 30 minutes where the participants were introducing some countries in the world, especially ASEAN to the children, then 15 minutes for break, and the last program lasted for 45 minutes, which was an outdoor activity called team building game. In the class, the participants also gave the students awareness about the importance of learning English, one of them was the fact that english is essential if they want to build good communications with the international citizen or foreigners.

DAY 5 OF AYSPP 2019: WORKSHIP AND CEO TALK

WORKSHOP (LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT):

On 8th  November 2019, two notable speakers, Dr. Yazid Abubakar Abdullahi, Senior Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at Universiti of Brunei Darussalam, and Guido Van Hafwegen, Co-Founder and Director of Nazava, spoke about Leadership and Management.

The first material presented by Dr. Yazid Abubakar Abdullahi discussed four major issues such as; differences between management and leadership, entrepreneurial leadership, leadership and team building, and team canvas. For management and leadership material, he explained that management is the process of planning, leading, managing, controlling people when there is a group consisting of people and ensuring everything goes well, while leadership is the action of leading people in organization and ability to do the action. It’s all about how you lead a group of people and give direction and influence the activities.

DAY 4 OF AYSPP 2019: FUN BUT EXCITING DAY

1.Company Visit 3: Bumi Langit

Bumi Langit was founded by Iskandar Waworuntu in 2006 to promote the importance of mutual living between humans and nature, implementing an alternative form of development in Imogiri, Yogyakarta.  Bumi Langit now has a restaurant and produces food as well as occasionaly teachers courses on the basis of their values.

The first thing that the participants did was joining a tour around the farm, getting educated regarding permaculture. Permaculture can be defined as working with natural forces—the wind, the sun, and water—to provide food, shelter, water, and everything else your garden needs besides plants and seeds. Simply put, Permaculture gardening is a holistic approach to gardening. After around 1 hour of tour, the participants then served homemade toast with homemade toast along with yogurt.  Then, the participants had lunch, and proceed to the next destination.

Arane Ecoprint was founded in 2017 with the aim to produce a more environmental friendly batik products. This brand aims to help every stakeholder in their production process to develop economically, such as workers, tailors, and fabric makers.

DAY 2 OF AYSPP: INSIGHTFUL LECTURES

1. Lecture 4 : Business Sustainability by Faezal Murni

SuperSquad, an innovative platform which offers anyone the convenience of playing recreational football with after 1 year of operations, SuperSquad has hosted more than 1200 games with more than 3500 players and 74 teams, and just has expanded to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Today, 5th of November, Faezal Murni, the CEO and Founder of SuperSquad was talking about the business sustainability. But before that, he explained the definition of business sustainability which is a strategy that prioritizes the long term survival of business. Things that affect business sustainability include the triple bottom line (3BL), such as people (society), profit (economics), and planet (environment). In addition, he also explained that business must also have an impact that can be realized in many ways, it could be health, youth, employement, cross cultural harmony, and so forth. And lastly, he talked about something important in order to sustain the business, its “Sustainability Strategic Map”, which consist of society, financial, customer, internal, people, and environment.

2. Lecture 5: Strategic Marketing & Management in the Digital Era by Lavinia Losub

Lavinia Iosub, Managing Partner at Livit International, invited the ASEAN Young Socialpreneurs Program (AYSPP) participants to talk about things that is changing and shifting because of the digital technologies. Internet connection makes it possible for us to do anything, anywhere. And because of that, digital nomad (a term for people who work remotely and conduct their life in a nomadic manner) has become more common now. Lavinia emphasized the fact that as a digital nomad, she gets to know new people and various culture. The lecture itself was started with introducing the participants to global contexts; globalization and the fact that tech is taking over the world and shaping every aspects in our lives including our behaviors. Then, the discussion led to leadership and management topics. Lavinia differentiated between traditional management and management in this digital era. She introduced us with management systems and tools to support remote working such as tools to store documents, to control project management, and to measure performance indicator. Lavinia also invited the participants to discuss about strategic marketing topics such as marketing mix, buyer persona, unique selling propositions, branding, and also digital marketing. This lecture session ended after the participants learned how to integrate all those marketing foundations to their business plan.
